Quilting Passion, the Web site, was born in 1994 and began it's initial entry into the Internet world under the domain of sregora.com (which is no longer maintained, but is archived). At that time, quilting was a little hobby I had picked up in 1993, quite literally by accident, and I wanted to share a few things with the world, so it seemed appropriate to place it on my own personal Web site (For those interested in how the name "sregora" was born, refer to my personal Web page). By the time 1995 arrived, I was spending a lot more time quilting than I had ever imagined I would. I didn't even have to think about a name for a new Web site (once I realized it was time for one); I simply knew that quilting had become a passion in my life, hence Quilting Passion was born. Quilting Passion kept me happily entertained for a number of years and then, in 2001, several events occurred over the summer that led to me forming the Quilting Passion Forum (where basic membership is free). Around this same time frame, an article I had written on my Web site was published in the December 2001 Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and suddenly, my site began to really get busy. Of course, that made me happy! It was around 2000-2001 that I realized that I didn't just love to quilt, I loved to design, also. I had been designing my own blocks and quilts since the beginning anyway, but never considered them good enough to share with others (and they still may not be, but many of you use them anyway!) So, with that in mind, I began offering many free block patterns, quilt patterns, mysteries, Block of the Month series', information, projects, charitable events, and whatever else I could think of to all of the QP visitors. In 2004, I began selling a few of my patterns (to try to offset the costs of running this Web site and other expenditures related to my designing), then during the summer of 2006, decided that I didn't want commercialism on the Quilting Passion site any longer (primarily because of the vast amount of charitable donations, which began in March 2002, that we were making via the QP Forum), so I created a new Web site in which to conduct my business. YOUnique Designs is online now, but I hope to have the business fully functional (and redesigned) by November 01, 2006. Please check in often to see the new items that are going to be added in the future and I invite you to begin shopping with me! There were about 18 months of mostly silence and non-activity on the Web site on my part (although, thanks to my wonderful assistant administrators on the forum, things kept on ticking there!), from February 2005 though August 2006, due first to the death of my father, then my uncle a few weeks later, than another uncle a few weeks after that. By that time, I was experiencing mild heart attacks (that were misdiagnosed as "seizure activity due to head trauma from an accident I suffered in December 2004") from June 2005 until January 2006, at which time I had heart surgery. Because of the sheer magnitude of the decline in my health due to the misdiagnoses, it caused many other medical issues that I am just now gaining control over. I literally went 18 months without so much as even picking up a needle and thread! I have been truly blessed with a loving family, many caring friends, a loving forum membership family, and a gracious God that have all been watching over me. It is my desire to continue to provide free patterns and activities that will not only benefit all of you that take the time to visit my Web site, but also to continue the charitable efforts that began in 2002 to benefit many people that need that extra comfort in life. The fact that this site is frequented and appreciated gives me the incentive to keep on doing the best that I can to make your quilting experiences more enjoyable. I appreciate each and every one of you! If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to share them! And also, please excuse the virtual dust on the site as it begins going through a major facelift. Quilty hugs and snugs, |
