Sewing Rows!

Ready to begin assembling those HST? I'm not, but I'm betting some of you are!

We're going to sew a single row together, using your fussy cuts. So, if you have 13 fussy cuts, you'll be sewing 13 rows. If you have 18 fussies, you'll be sewing 18 rows. And if you have 25 of the fussy beauties, you'll be sewing 25 rows. Easy!

As a refresher, this fabric sample is used to indicate the fussy cut:

The assembly of this row, Row 1, is going to involve using two of the medium/dark HST for each fussy cut that you have. As a refresher, this sample is used to indicate the HST being used:

To assemble Row 1, sew a HST on each side of the fussy cut, with the direction of the on-point fussy cut being so that the bottom of it is in the bottom right corner. Refer to the following assembly diagram for how to lay this out and sew:

It is important that your HST be in the exact same position as the illustration above, making sure that the medium fabric is the one that is surrounding the fussy cut.

This completes Row 1! Rows 2 and 3 will follow within just a few days!

Sewing Tips:

  1. Use a scant 1/4" seam allowance.

  2. Press rows flat, but don't distort them!

I've tried to compact this as much as possible, while trying to keep it simple. If you are confused, please e-mail me, or feel free to ask a question on the MQ thread on the Quilting Passion forum (membership is free). The discussion of this MQ is moving right along on the forum!

Stay tuned for the piecing of the next row in the next segment!
