Original quilt pattern with Snowball block by Terry

"All About Blocks" is a work in progress, so be sure to check back often, as more and more free block patterns in multiple sizes are added!  All block patterns that are linked to from the "Quilting Passion Patterns" page are created by Terry Crawford, and although many of them are traditional patterns, a great deal of them are original designs.  Please respect the copyright of this site.  Thank you!

Rose

This flower pattern is a beautifully, layered pattern.  The petals of the flower are done with several pink fabrics.  The stem is done in brown and the leaves are shown in green.

The size of the pattern is approximately 5.5" x 9" and the size of the background fabric is cut to 7" x 10.5".  The background fabric is cut liberally due to the fact that the block tends to shrink when embroidering.  This pattern can be enlarged or reduced to meet your needs.

There are 15 components of this pattern.  The components are:

  1. 3 leaves (green, patterns B, C, D),

  2. 1 stem (brown, pattern A),

  3. 7 rose petals (pink, patterns I, J, K, L, M, N, O),

  4. 4 flower leaves (green, patterns E, F, G, H).

     Here are the patterns:

For instructions in button-hole appliqué, refer to my Button-Hole Appliqué directions on the Web.  Of course, you can use any method of appliqué you wish, but remember to add seam allowances if you choose an alternate method (such as, needle-turn).

A sample of the rose, before it is appliquéd, is shown below.

A sample of the rose finished is here:

     Have fun!
