Note:  If printing this pattern, it is printed best if the printer setting is set to "landscape" rather than "portrait".

This is a very simple block that can be paper-pieced in just a few minutes. This block could easily be finished using scraps of small fabric from your stash in reds, whites, and blues.

When finished, this block measures approximately 4" x 4", but can be enlarged and/or reduced as needed.

Instructions!

  1. Using your favorite method of paper-piecing, print out each of the three patterns given below and paper-piece them in reds, whites, and blues.  If necessary, use the illustration above for color recommendations.
  2. Pattern 1:  Units A, B, and C
  3. Once each of the three patterns are finished, sew Unit B to Unit A along the side that is illustrated in the pattern from step 2, where the two are adjacent to one another.
  4. Next, sew Unit C to Units A/B, as shown in the illustration from step 2, where the two are adjacent to one another.  This finished block should measure approximately 4" x 4".
  5. Press the entire block flat.
  6. Remove the paper carefully from the back once the block is sewn into your project.
  7. Options:  Try making placemats, a tablerunner, or use this as a border!

I have two requests: 1) Since this is a free pattern, in lieu of payment, please send me a picture of a completed quilt or block when you finish, and 2) Please be sure to read my copyright notice before proceeding. I have strict (though very easy and reasonable) guidelines that users must adhere to. Thank you!

Should you run into any problems in making this quilt, or if something in the directions is incorrect, please contact me! It would be greatly appreciated!

This pattern created from EQ 4.
