Mother's & Father's Day Parade 2004

There comes a day, once a year, that honors mothers and fathers around the world.  This year, Mother's Day is May the 9th and Father's Day is June the 20th.  Quilting With A Passion is celebrating these two very special days with a couple of parades.  You may be thinking, "A parade?  Why and how?".

The "why" is easy.  I firmly believe that mothers and fathers (or an important mother/father-figure in your life) should be recognized on their day for all that they mean to us.  The "how" is also easy.  QP is sponsoring a parade of blocks representing the "mother" and "father" that means so much to us.  You have an opportunity to view a parade of blocks, plus an opportunity to read a little bit about our mothers and fathers.

  Mother's Day Parade

Alice, NJ - "My mother was a creative genius."

Bonnie, OH - "Since my Mother and Mother-in-Law are both gone, I remember the good things about them.  Some sad, some happy.  But I know I am a better person for having both of them in my life."

Annie, ME - "I'm so proud of my mom as she is now in a nursing home with myriad disabilities but hasn't given up.  She has a table set up in a corner of the solarium where she works with her brushes and paints developing landscapes.  She's an inspiration to the staff and other patients.  I am thankful to her for passing on her artistic abilities and perseverance both of which enable me in my quilting endeavors.  Thank you, Mom!"

Terry, OK - "I swear, my mother is perfect.  Always kind and doing for others; she is the most unselfish person I know.  She's full of wisdom, grace, and love.  And, as if all of this isn't enough, she's also very intelligent and creative.  If I grow up to be half the woman she is, I will be most happy."

France, AZ - "I have chosen the block “No Place Like Home” because there really is no place like being home with my Mother in Canada every chance I get. Living 2500 miles apart has made me appreciate just how special Mom is."

Lynn, NC - "Your dedication to your mother, your grandchildren and to your two girls is proof that  goodness still exists in the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being you. You ARE the heart of our family."

First Place Winner is Lynn, NC Second Place Winner is Bonnie, OH

Father's Day Parade

France, AZ - "My father is a humble and selfless man, always eager to help anybody.  He's creative, a problem-solver and a perfectionist.  He is truly my favorite "Mr. Fix-It" in the whole world and I'm proud to say he's MY Dad!"

Alice, NJ - "My father in 40 words, impossible.  In a word --- PERFECT!  Happy Father's Day, Daddy."

Rita, IL - "Grandpa taught me that you should make up for harsh words with a handful of pansies hidden behind your back, presented with a wink.  He also taught e that someone loved with your whole heart is never, ever really gone."

Alice, NJ - "My husband Bill is a terrific father and grandfather.  The crab represents his zodiac sign, not his demeanor!"
