Fat quarters are all the rage right now.  Why?  Perhaps because they're relatively inexpensive?  Or because of their convenient size (approximately 18" x 22") versus the regular cut quarter-yard (which is 9" x 44")?  Fat Quarters, referred to as FQs, are very collectible!  Thus, the purpose of this activity is to be able to collect FQs without a huge investment.  How?  The answer to this question lies in the title of this page:  A drawing!

Each month, a color or special fabric pattern/theme is chosen by the hostess and then provided on the Quilting Passion Forum.  Participants purchase FQs, using the general guidelines and monthly guidelines (given below), then e-mail the Quilting Passion Interactive Forum Fat Quarter Drawing Hostess, Debbie, with the number of Fat Quarters being entered into the drawing (maximum of six FQs).  Each FQ becomes his/her "entry" or "entries".  Once you submit the total number of FQs you are entering, you then receive a confirmation e-mail from Debbie telling you where to mail the FQs.  For each FQ that you send, please include one first class postage stamp (currently a 41¢ stamp)Please, NO FLANNEL or low-quality fabrics.

Once Debbie receives your FQs, your name goes into a "hat" the same number of times as the number of FQs you mail.  In other words, if you mail three FQs, your name goes into the hat three separate times for that month or if you only submit one FQ, it goes in once, and so on.  At the end of the month (around the 20th), all of the names of everyone participating in the FQ Drawing are shaken very well and a single name is drawn from the current month's participants.  That lucky person receives a package containing all the FQs submitted for that month.

In the event that we have a large number of FQs (30 or more?) submitted for any given month, the FQs are to be divided and there will be more than one name drawn (dependent on the number of blocks submitted).  It is also important to note that no one can win two months in a row.

All fabrics should be 100%, good quality cotton.  Label each FQ according to the instructions on the forum.

Sound like fun?  Want to join?  If so, either contact Debbie via e-mail or log onto the Quilting Passion forum FQ 2006 Startup Discussion Thread (free membership) and look for the "Fat Quarter Drawing" folder for more information.
