Quilting is very addictive. Very, very addictive.
And if you are grinning right now, quit, because I know you are addicted,
too!
Sometimes I'm not sure if
I'm hooked more on quilting, designing, shopping for fabric, or
publishing. I fell in love with quilting in 1993 and the addiction to fabric
followed shortly thereafter. I didn't realize how much of a 'fabricaholic'
I was until I found myself beginning to look at clothing that people were
wearing and thinking, "I would love to cut that up!". That's a good
indication that you love fabric. Then, it extended beyond clothing.
I began looking at upholstery, carpet patterns, draperies, tile, etc.
That's when I knew that I was too far gone; I sure
hope there's not a 12-step program to rid me of this vice! As for
the designing, it was there from the beginning, so I just assumed it was a
part of quilting that everyone had. I've found that not to be true.
The addiction to publishing comes naturally for me, also. I have a
Master's Degree in Education, and one of my degrees is in English. I
was never interested in writing until I discovered quilting, and, well, it
is easy to see how one would need to be able to write if they were designing
and publishing block/quilt patterns, true? So, which am I most
addicted to? There is no single, simple answer to that question! |

Despite all of my perpetual, time-consuming habits, I still manage to do the
really important things, though: Quilt, shop, quilt design,
Web Design,
write,
Teach, lecture, eat, sleep
(note that "sleep" is last on the list). I even manage to have a
semblance of a real life. And, of course, I have a wonderful mother, sister, two
(2) sons, a great daughter-in-law, and two (2) grandchildren! I need
at least 36 hours in a day!
This page is a collection of things that I've personally authored or
created.
I would love to share a remnant of the knowledge I have acquired over time with
you. Thank you for stopping by and giving me the
opportunity to do just that. And, as usual, should you have a suggestion, or
find an error, please contact
me.
