Where did the name 'Sregora' come from? Well, first off, the name 'Sregora' is very unique to me in the whole world. A few years ago, I needed a nickname to use on the Internet. I was trying to think of interesting names by spelling words backwards... and I crossed over into Rogers County. Ba-da-bing. 'Rogers' spelled backwards is 'Sregor', and I liked it. But, it sounded too masculine; so I simply added an 'a' on the end and viola. Sregora came into virtual existence.

Who is Sregora? I am. And since you've put forth the effort to look up my page on the Web, the least I can do is to tell you a little about myself. Here's the *real* person behind the monitor. Keep reading if you want to know more. And if you don't want to know more, then why the heck did you access this page???

ME:

My name is Terry, and I was born in April of 1956. (Yes, I hit those 40's. Yes, it just about killed me. Yes, I finally adjusted. Yes, life really *did* begin at 40! And now that I've passed 50, I still feel young!)  The pictures at the right depict me over a 10 year period of time.  Sure have changed, haven't I?

I live in the USA; and own a home on beautiful Lake Hudson, managed by GRDA (which provides public power for Oklahoma), in the wonderfully scenic state of Oklahoma.  I personally designed my own home and my father contracted it.  Everyone that steps into it is astonished to see the interior.  It is very unique, with lots of angles and such.  I love wildlife and there is an abundance of deer, turkeys, Canadian Geese, Bald Eagles, foxes, skunks, and armadillos (which I hate because they dig holes!).

I try to go out on the lake at least every other day during warm days, stay until after dark so that I can catch a sunset or two, and I've even taken up fishing again.  I don't eat fish (don't like the taste), so I catch and release the sweet little darlin's.  I usually catch catfish, but also an occasional crappy or bass.  Our lake also has "paddlefish" (locally called "spoonbill catfish" because of their huge snout, which is shaped like a long, flat paddle, with a dip in it like a spoon) which are huge (up to 100+ pounds), pre-historic fish that are protected.  I see one of them jump out of the water at least three to four times a week and they are an awesome sight to behold.  They leap rather gracefully in the air, similar to a dolphin. The passenger that goes out on the lake with me the most is Speck.  She's going on 3 years old and full grown, at a whopping 3.5 pounds!  She's a Teacup Chihuahua and doesn't really know she's a dog.

On October 20 of 1999, my grandson, Nathan, was born.  He is absolutely adorable!  And I'm not at all biased!  He's intelligent, handsome, and such a happy little boy!  My granddaughter, RyLynn, was born on April 20, 2006 and is a beautiful baby with a head full of hair!

Me in 1995, I want "big hair" to come back in style!

Me in November 2003.  It hurts to get your hair "frosted!"

Me going to a party on  October 30, 2005.  See that glitter on my dress?  I am still finding it all over my car and it's a year later!

I retired from teaching school in 1999 and began a new career in computer consulting.  Since beginning this career, I've lived and worked in California, Arizona, Massachusetts, Indiana, Illinois, Connecticut, England, and Ireland.  I retired from the computer consulting business on April 1, 2003 and settled back in Oklahoma.  My father passed away February 10, 2005 and that was a devastating blow to my entire family.  To add to that, I began having light heart attacks in June of 2005, which were being diagnosed as "seizures".  My health went downhill fast and by Christmas I was barely functioning.  Thanks to a Tulsa ER, I was properly diagnosed with a heart problem and had heart surgery on January 19th.  It has given me back my life!  Recovery seems to be slow, but I'm seeing progress on a regular basis and that's all good.

I've had Internet access since May of 1995 and it's become one of my favorite hobbies, as well as a cool place to work. So, what do I like about the Internet? Surfing the World Wide Web is always interesting, as there are millions of places to visit, without ever leaving home! Another Internet activity I enjoy is MOO (Multi-User Object Oriented). It was while helping administrate a MOO that I first got interested in creating Web pages. I've written a very simple tutorial explaining how to create Web pages with HTML. This HTML Tutorial is currently Webbed on this site and I continue to add to it in my spare (hehehehe) time.  I'm also a Spades addict on Yahoo.com!

I'm not happy unless I have at least three major projects going on in my life. My favorite motto is "Too much to do, too little time in which to do it, and too few brain cells left with which to accomplish it."

EDUCATION:

I graduated from Northeastern State University in 1977 and have a Master's Degree in Education; with special endorsements (majors) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Science, and English. I taught for 22 years, at every age level (from eight thru 80?), and am currently retired.  I also have a Doctorate in Theology.

I was also a Master Trainer for the Northeast Oklahoma Training Consortium, a statewide program offering technology training for all of Oklahoma's teachers (K-12, Vo-Tech, Higher Education).

HOBBIES:

Here are some of the things I enjoy (not in any particular order) and use in stress management: Reading (Dean Koontz is my favorite author), traveling, computer-related activities, music, movies, quilting (believe it or not), boating, fishing, playing cards (especially Spades and Texas Hold 'Em), and a little bit of socializing to occasionally relax.  I also manage an online quilting forum called Quilting Passion Forum, of which there are thousands of members.  We have a wonderful time and have become one huge Internet family!  Additionally, I manage an online reading forum called The Book Nook, which is small and homey.  Basic membership to these forums is free.

I began quilting quite literally by accident in 1993 when I was injured and basically immobile for approximately 10 months.  My mother introduced me to quilting when I grew so bored that I was going nuts.  I was immediately hooked.  I love to design new patterns, maintain a quilting Web site, and also teach.  Providing mystery quilts online is one of my favorite things to do, too!  I also own two (2) home-based businesses:  RiverMOO, Inc. (which specializes in Computer- and Notary-Related services) and YOUnique Designs (which specializes in personally designed, customized, and hand-made gifts/crafts/quilts/etc.), that I enjoy very much.

I am also a free-lance writer and was hired on March 31, 2007 by 451 Press to be the Staff Writer for Quilting By Design.  Comments on that site are very welcome!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions regarding my Web site!
